Tortuga Mexican Kitchen: Taste the Best of Tex-Mex in Galveston

Food was delicious. We sat outside and the breeze felt amazing. Our server was nice and got our order out quickly. The margarita was a bit light but satisfying and fresh in this humidity. All three plates were delicious. No complaints here.

The new location offers more wonderful opportunities to enjoy the gulf being upstairs. The music was so loud we couldn’t talk but the manager turned it down some & it was a far better experience than at the old location. Really really good. The Perfect Patron margarita is not to be missed!! The desserts were off the chain. OMG Even better the next day!!! It’s absolutely worth getting the dinner and taking it home to enjoy it the next day!!! Unbelievable!!!! This tequila lime shrimp dinner with Chiles Toreados is THE BOMB!!!!

This wasn’t my 1st visit . It was a Saturday and I didn’t have to wait for a long time in order to be seated and for the appetizer to be ready . Server V. provided a great service . Chips and salsa were fresh, yummy and warm , plate with appetizers was tasty . Also , the price was very good for the meal . Stop by there for a meal and drink when you are enjoying a day in the area . The restaurant is facing the beach ! Another review : I was pleased with the service , it was exceptional! I ordered tortilla chicken soup and spinach and shrimp and crawfish dip , it ( dip) was yummy .

Visited Tortuga on Easter Sunday. We chose to sit on their patio, which has a lovely view of the Gulf. It's separated by the highway and highway noise, but still nice and shaded. The tables were not in great repair, but I guess that is the price of a restaurant in the salt air. Service was good. Food was tasty, if unremarkable. They offer margarita flights, which were adorable and delicious. My husband really liked the prickly pear, but my favorite was the house lime. Tortuga is a good spot for Mexican classics. We would visit again..

I appreciate as soon as you walk in they sit you down and get you a glass of water and ask your order. The queso and chips was great. The drinks are OK. Their flour tortillas, or store-bought, I would recommend corn tortillas or chips.

Great Mexican restaurant. I liked the old place better but this one is good. Good service and good food. Loved the elevator on the west side to get to the 2nd floor. Great atmosphere, too. Big fund raiser for the local area inside, too.

Food is good but nothing special. Gave it a 4 star rating for the cheese enchilada happy hour special. Beautiful view of the ocean when sitting where you can see it and has plenty of areas where you can. Service good but felt like waitress was demeaning me because I'm elderly. She looks 18 no older than early 20s. I look pretty good for an early 70s lady. It was that strange smirky smile she almost continuously had. Guess some people think they'll be young forever. Well time goes by fast and b4 she knows it she'll be my age, if she makes it. That is a very rude way to act. She didn't make me feel bad. Just so tired of people calling me sweetie, honey, and other stupid names. When I waitressed for a little while. when young I treated everyone the same, the elderly the same. I'm not waitresses honey, sweetie etc. One time I let a young waitress that called me sweetheart know it wasn't right. I don't feel bad because I'm elderly and they don't make me feel bad because I'm elderly. They're the fool not me. It happens again I'm saying something. Tired of it. I wonder how they treat they're grandparents.

Always love coming here on our Island visit. The food is really good. Our waiter was a pretty good. Magician . He entertained some kids at the table next to us. But the real star was still the food. Large portions and well prepared. We will be back.
